In a bad economy, it’s commission only. That’s why so many agents drop out of sight when times are tough. Some offices might offer you a small salary as a new agent, but make you pay it back once you start to sell.

Depends on what kind of listing agreement you signed. Most likely it was an Exclusive Right to Sell and if so you have to pay her commission as though she secured the buyer..like you said. If she gives you trouble about that and you want out of the agreement and she’s uncooperative then I would talk to her broker…even if she is “family”. Either she will start cooperating or her broker will assign you to someone else.

Their is no need to go to college to be a real estate agent. It would be a complete waste of time. The median salary of a real estate agent is quite low. This is probably because the numbers are watered down by the thousands of agents who don’t make any money at all. I think the average is under 30k. On the other hand, once your established and successful, it’s quite easy to make a six-figure income.
If your going to go to college and want an education that is going to help you make a lot of money in real estate, Major in Business or Marketing. Real estate is an easy piece of the puzzle. You can pick up that part in a 4 week class at your local college or even online. As for the parts of the job no one talks about…see my blog, I talk about this all the time.

this guy and people like him are why we are in a recession right now, i cant believe he said the things he said,he is basically saying to trick people into buying a more expensive house then they can afford so that you get a bigger commission,what a piece of shit,that is exactly why so many people are losing there homes,realtors and bankers getting people to focus on the monthly payment and disregard things like two separate interest rates (80/20 loan)interest only and adjustable rates.

You need 2 take Real Estate Courses & it depends on the sale of what U make.On $108,000.00 once the closing is done U make $4500.00 but U gotta work your butt off 4 that money a good month or so U don’t get your pay till the closing though not by the hour by the houses U sell.Good Luck
